BYD Atto 3 e-SUV Review In 10 points

BYD has lately unveiled a new e-SUV in the Indian automobile market, the Atto 3. For those who do not know, BYD (Build Your Dreams) is a high-tech manufacturing company known globally for its sportier and quirky EVs & battery technologies. This is in a while that the company is going loud in India and trying to make its own identity in the Indian market. It is the second offering from BYD India. We took a dive from the front to the interior of this car and got some thoughts about it that we would like to share with you.

First up, the Atto3, by the looks of it, is a very different EV which is definitely a head-turner on the roads. It has an aerodynamic inspired design which also makes the look compact for a midsize SUV.

Here is our finding about the BYD Atto 3 in pointers for your easy and approachable understanding.

BYD Atto 3 Pros:

  1. Good aerodynamic design

  2. Wing shaped LED, continuous tail lights 

  3. Great sound system, adequate for most people 

  4. Unique silver finish on C-pillar

  5. 12.8 inch 180 degree rotational touchscreen

  6. Fully compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

  7. All digital instrument cluster

  8. Quirky looks in the interior

  9. Comfortable Seats

  10. 440 litre of boot space, 4445 mm in length

  11. Rear leg room is good (flat floor for an EV first design)

  12. 18-inch five-spoke, dual-tone alloy wheels

  13. Panoramic sunroof looks massive

  14. 60.48kWh battery packed has a driving range of 521 km as claimed by ARAI

  15. Max. torque is 310 Nm

  16. Loaded with Safety Tech, 7 airbags with a central airbag

  17. A 360-degree camera, ESC, ABS, hill descent control & traction control

  18. Automatic emergency braking, blindspot monitoring, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control and front and rear collision warning

  19. Will be assembled in India, +1 here also 


     

     

    BYD Atto 3 Cons:

    1. Quirky interiors and hefty centre console area

    2. Rear seat access is a bit narrow

    3. Under-thigh support could be bit better

    4. Messy bonnet compartment 

      Summary:

      It all comes down to the pricing as BYD will have to impress Indian customers. So if they price this car well ( around 30 lakhs) this can be a segment bestseller without a doubt - a combination of great looks, great performance (0-100 in 7.3 secs) and great range(real world testing still remains), great safety (NCAP 5*) and great warranty package. Not many cars give this much!
