New Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 review with Pros and Cons

Alto, is a car that has been with us for a long while. It is one of the best selling cars in the indian automotive industry, so when its K10 variant gets an update after many years, it is worth to check and test this ride whether this compact hatchback is still able to make us happy. Hands down, this is the cheapest and most affordable car in the market that offers solid performance and impressive fuel economy numbers. Let’s find out what is new and where are the corner cuttings in this 2022 Alto K10.

What’s new?

The overall design and core of Alto K10 has not changed much, but what has changed is able to make an impact. The externals are rebuilt with modern city vibes and are more funky than before. The car looks sportier with its honeycomb grill. The rear and sides are also rounded too. It measures 3530 mm in length, 1490mm in width, 1520 mm in height. Giving more space in the interior. There are six colour options on the offer now.

It is one one of the cheapest and lightest cars in the Indian market and for the price, Maruti has done what it could to offer a solid build with some flexes here and there which is expected from a car this lightweight.

2022 Alto K10 shares the engine with Celerio and S-presso. The 999cc engine produces 66bhp and 89Nm of torque which is really impressive for a car of this size. There are 13” wheels which look tiny when compared to the competition.

Upper trims get power steering, cabin air filter, AC with heater, rear parcel shelf, AMT, etc.

Alto safety includes dual airbags, ABS with EBD, speed sensing door locks, seat belts with pretensioners, high-speed warning, reverse parking sensors, and more. Though it is still a zero star rating car but for the price it starts with, we really can’t complain.

To sum it up for you here are 10 pros and 10 cons of the New Maruti Suzuki Alto K10:

Maruti Alto K10 Pros

  1. An improved and well-balanced car best suited for city when compared to the previous model
  2. Snappy & swift performance with a decent power to weight balance
  3. Outstanding fuel efficiency. Claimed ARAI figures are 24.90 km/l (AMT) & 24.39 km/l (MT)
  4. AMT variant can be purchased at a premium of Rs. 50,000 making it one of the cheapest automatic cars available in India right now
  5. Sufficient cabin space to accommodate four adults
  6. Small dimensions, great visibility, light controls, AMT transmission & a puny 4.5 m turning radius. A great choice for city commute as well as first-time car buyers
  7. Responsive 7” touchscreen ICE with Android Auto + Apple CarPlay + steering mounted controls
  8. It gets a boot space of 214 litres (37 litre more than the predecessor)
  9. Now comes with 4 speaker sound system
  10. All black dashboard

Maruti Alto K10 Cons

  1. Significantly more expensive considering the competition and compromises
  2. Narrow width makes it a strict 4-seater
  3. Mediocre ride quality. Feels wobbly over rough patches and can touch bottom on high speed breakers
  4. Low grip 145 mm tyres in comparison to the power on offer
  5. Becomes shaky at very high speeds owing to its lightweight form factor
  6. No protection of moving parts from the bottom
  7. Rear power windows, rear wiper/defogger, day/night IRVM, etc. are missed
  8. Light, economy-grade build quality
  9. Sibling S-Presso offers more at slight higher price~15,000 more (more space, large wheels, electrically adjustable ORVMs, features like ESP with hill-hold (AMT), etc.)

For those who are looking to buy a new car without breaking the bank, the Maruti Suzuki Alto k10 is a great choice. It is a great choice for city commutes and casual long short drives. The power it offers is respective but the wheels and weight balance deprive it of the octane experience that one expects.
